The Mine Nominated for TYPROS’ Boomtown Award

October 29, 2020

After launching the SummerTulsa Impact Academy in an effort to combat young Tulsans losing internships due to COVID-19, The Mine has been nominated for a TYPROS 2020 Boomtown Award. In addition to the nomination for the organization award, The Mine will have the opportunity to win a People’s Choice award based on the amount of donations received in the organization’s name. The award winners will be announced on Facebook live November 6th. The mine has been nominated alongside two other great Tulsa organizations: TulsaResponds, and FC Tulsa.

TYPROS (Tulsa’s Young Professionals) is an organization working to make Tulsa a great place to live, work, and play by attracting and retaining young, creative talent in the Tulsa region. The TYPROS Boomtown Awards celebrate individuals, organizations, and businesses who #MakeTulsaGreat. This year the theme is “Ride the Wave” celebrating those who helped Tulsa stay resilient in such a challenging year.

Why should you nominate the Mine as People’s choice?

The Mine helped Tulsa “Ride the Wave” of 2020 by starting SummerTulsa Impact Academy, a 9-week work experience for 25 college students who lost internships due to COVID-19. Through this program, interns created solutions for problems exacerbated by COVID-19 including food deserts, rural mental health, teacher well-being, equitable internet access, and criminal justice reform. The Mine Tulsa will help the Impact Academy grow to provide meaningful, interesting projects and introduce college students to Tulsa as part of the new Campus Tulsa initiative.
